a surprise in the sky

the cold chill may still be biting in the wind...
but you don't notice.
there is a rainbow bursting off the sun and clouds.

mainly: birch bark, mica, and clay formations w.holes
but underneath was a plastic bag with the title written in a ten year old's writing: Miriam
thus, the discovery of the first collected pieces of mica by miriam...
these specific pieces will not be seen on any of our future garments or necklaces...
they will be stowed away.

a new shade

a reflection of an unfamiliar color in the midst of layer upon layer of grey.uprooted from an unknown world...
one we tread without ever noticing.

the beginning of something new

it was one of those march days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade.
- c. dickenswaiting. anticipating: for when it is no longer the first day of spring but the first spring day.

first 'sprung' of spring

the cool air settles on the ground...
the snow melt lingers...
before the robins appear...
a sprig of hope:
the first green plant braving the unpredictable march.

blue stem

a strange site one morningwhere the blue stem grass once stood...
bursts of burnt orange scattered across the prairie
